didn't find who cole field house was named after but ancestry.com says phillip cole was born in Williamstown in 1750
oh, okay - landsofamerica.com says :
' On August 31st, 1886 Mr. Charles Cole, a Williamstown banker, wed Mary Adeline Mole, daughter of Thomas Mole.On February 19th of 1889, Joseph White sold one and a half acres on Depot Street, now Cole Avenue, to Thomas Mole for $1,500. (Deed Book 190 on Page 373). The 1890 Williamstown tax records show a bill dating to May for a new home together with barn and harness shop belonging to Thomas Mole, valued at $3,650. Not until 1906 did the town records show the home to be in the name of Charles Cole. (Perhaps parents were just as protective of their daughters and cautious and skeptical in those days of their son-in-laws). '
