Tamerlane

In reply to JohnGaltIam's comment reply at BDN's "NSA fugitive Edward Snowden seeks asylum in Ecuador, says foreign minister" by James Pomfret an Lydia Kelly

Oh, yeah - thanks for reminding me, Johnster...forgot to mention that one of the reasons Chief Bresett visited was that I mentioned to Lynn that one of the Marathon bombers was named Tamerlan...

And Edgar Allen Poe had written a poem in Boston about Tamerlane [1336 -1405 AD], the disabled Mongol conqueror who's dynasty ruled Iran until the early 16th Century, according Funky Wagnalls...

And that the Boston Marathon began with the historic Battle of Marathon in 490 BC when the Greeks defeated the Persian Emperor Darius the Great [no relation to Soda Pop or Pony Boy but who had made a canal from the Nile to the Red Sea]...

And that the Shah of Iran's younger son had apparently committed suicide in Boston in 2011, just before the start of the Arab Spring...

But I didn't tell her that the son, Ali Reza, was possibly despondent over the suicide of his younger sister who suffered from depression and reportedly was made more ill by the anti-depressants she was given...

Or that he had been in Mr. Danforth's French class the period after mine at Mt. Greylock RHS in 1981, but wasn't allowed to go to our school earlier because his family wasn't supposed to be in the country while the hostage crisis was still going on...

Or Operation Ajax...

Or that the daughter who took her own life may have said she couldn't believe her father had done the things people were saying he had done...which were allegedly done by the CIA trained and created SAVAK...

I'll try to put the links on the blog...

Bacardi is Puerto Rican + Mexican

In reply to Redhead's clicked on screen name comment at "Is Edward Snowden Even Real?" BDN blog by: Ezra Klein and Evan Soltas:

                                           mp3  Matchbox Twenty's Website

Bacardilimited.com says after FDR Liberal Democrats repealed Prohibition in 1933, two of its largest production facilities were built in Mexico and Puerto Rico

Wiki says Republicans controlled the US House + Senate when the Volstead Act [Prohibition] was passed over Democratic President Woodrow Wilson's veto in 1919

Uvm.edu says Republican + Eugenicist Indiana Governor James Frank Hanly [Gov. from 1905 -1909] ran for president on the Prohibitionist Party ticked in 1916

http://www.uvm.edu/~lkaelber/eugenics/IN/IN.html :

"Republican Governor James Frank Hanly was the governor of Indiana, 1905-1909, who signed the 1907 law authorizing involuntary sterilizations in Indiana. Hanly was known for being “an anti-vice crusader and hard-line prohibitionist” (Stern 2005, p. 9), even so much so as to run for president for the Prohibition Party in 1916 (In.gov, "Hanly"). Hanly was also praised by Dr. Sharp, who stated that his administration “has been noted for its efforts at race purity and civic righteousness” (Sharp 1907, p. 179). His biography in the Indiana state government website mentions nothing of the sterilization law."

http://www.bacardilimited.com/PressRelease/FactSheet :

1930s: "Bacardi establishes facilities in Mexico and Puerto Rico—to date two of the largest production facilities within Bacardi with the facility in CataƱo, Puerto Rico, being the largest premium rum distillery in the world."

      If you are unable to stop you vehicle you are going to fast. Bikes, motorcycles share the road. Do you maintain the same speed when two vehicles are approaching from opposite directions and two people are walking on the shoulder? No. One slows down and allows the other vehicle to pass and then the vehicle that slows down passes with due care. At least that's the way I drive.
    • jd2008jd  3 hours ago
      You really need to go back under your bridge Troll.
    • jd2008jd  3 hours ago
      I've been hit more than a few times traveling the roads and byways of Maine and this country and not once was it by a bicyclist.
    • jd2008jd  3 hours ago
      How do you know the Maine Coast Cycling Club doesn't?

      Please explain how the death of a young man and a bicycle race is about Republican and Democrat politics.
    • jd2008jd  3 hours ago
      Yes...YOU. Because you could have said the same thing. That it's not about politics but you didn't and you took it to a whole new level with your rant.
    • jd2008jd  9 hours ago
      You cheapen this persons memory by making this about left and right. I thought "progressives" were the "tolerant" ones?
      How about demonstrating some of that "tolerance" by leaving the politic rants out of the conversation.
    • jd2008jd  9 hours ago
      The only reason it's about politics is due to people like you that make EVERYTHING about politics.
      This IS about a young man losing his life trying to help people he doesn't know.
      When you and others bring politics I to it you dishonor this person memory.

      "No charges filed" does not equal "bicyclist" at fault. It simply means "no charges filed".

      I drive 40,000+ miles a year just for work. I have seen many, many commercial trucks doing very stupid and dangerous things.
      Ex: pulling back into the travel lane and forcing the car they were passing off the road or into the breakdown lane.
      Ex: Exceeding the reduced speed limit of 45 mph on the interstate in a snow storm causing white out conditions when they pass cars that are observing the reduced speed limit.
      Ex: Swerving from the travel lane into the passing lane in an attempt to strike a crown feeding on roadkill.
      Respect, safety and common sense are a two way street.
    • jd2008jd  a day ago
      I could also share stories about truck drivers blowing by when the speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph causing white out conditions on the interstate.
      About truck drivers speeding up on passing lanes so you cannot pass.
      About truck drivers weaving back and forth on cell phone.
      About truck drivers forcing cars off the road or into the breakdown lane by entering the travel lane to soon.
      About truck drivers swerving in an attempt to hit a crow in the roadway.
      I have seen all of the above and more...I hope you brother-in-law is not one of those I have witnessed.
    • jd2008jd  a day ago
      Then petition your elected representative to introduce those changes you mention. Until then SHARE THE ROAD!
    • jd2008jd  a day ago
      The roads belong to all...bikes, cars, trucks, motorcycles....ALL
    • jd2008jd  a day ago
      And you base that on what?
    • jd2008jd  2 days ago
      How about truckers that obey the speed limit and not tailgate?

      I on the other hand have publicly stated how I "knew" Bob Carlson. Through a professional organization which met once a month for several years. I never attended the church he was affiliated with. I never served on any boards nor received any money from any group or employer of his.
      When he took the dive off the bridge I asked that people withhold judgement until the facts were known. Once those facts became know I have advocated that those that seemingly knew (2 Bangor officers, 1 PCSO Deputy and 1 "councilor") should have been held accountable.

      It's listed in the Rules and makes no mention of Maine law and is listed with "intoxication" which hasn't been a crime in years and "coarse language" which is protected speech.
      By the way smoking is prohibited and specifically lists the Maine Law that prohibits it.
      The event was CLOSED to the public. Only members of the MNG and their guests were allowed access to the "dining in".
    • jd2008jd  7 days ago
      If a murder occurred during an event that the FOFK "arranged" would you hold them responsible for the murder?
    • jd2008jd  8 days ago
      And that has what to do with the "price of tea in China"?
    • jd2008jd  8 days ago
      But you fail to understand that the liquor license is the caterers responsibility and they are ultimately responsible if a "liquor law" violation occurred.
    • jd2008jd  8 days ago
      Could you cite the law which you claim was broken please and thank you. I found a "rule" but no reference to any law.

      It's a rule, not a law.
    • jd2008jd  8 days ago

    • jd2008jd  8 days ago
      "My belief, and the mission statement of our BPL, makes it clear that such events must be related to the site."
      Here is the Mission Statement I found
      "Mission The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands protects and manages the natural and cultural resources under its care in order to offer a wide range of recreational and educational opportunities and provide environmental and economic benefits for present and future generations."http://www.maine.gov/doc/parks...
      I find nothing that says "events must be related to the site". If that is the case there should be no weddings at any state site as weddings are not "events" that are "related to the site" and we all know that weddings and birthday celebrations are held at various state parks and historic sites across the state.
      The "rules" say something different entirely..."The use of these areas shall be limited to the purposes for which
      they are being preserved and to activities determined by the Bureau to be compatible with the intended use of the facility."http://www.maine.gov/doc/parks...
      and yes, it does says that alcohol is prohibited but does NOT say it is a violation of state law, "Intoxicating beverages are not permitted." http://www.maine.gov/doc/parks...
      So is your beef with the caterer serving bottled beer when they shouldn't have or that the Fort Knox site is managed by the FOFK because truly, it's difficult to tell from your various posts.
    • jd2008jd  8 days ago
      So who do you want prosecuted?
      The Maine National Guard for consuming the alcohol where prohibited?
      The catering company for violating both the state law and serving in violation of its liquor license?
      The FOFK for granting permission where permission could not be granted?
      All three (3) or a combination for the three (3)?
    • jd2008jd  8 days ago
      What is the "intended reason for being" then?
      Please list them.

      And it would be the caterers liquor license at risk if they served alcohol where they are not supposed to.
    • jd2008jd  9 days ago
      That's not what the article says. It says "...road to Fort Knox and the caterers had begun setting up...". It sounds like the "caterers" were not the FOFK but a private catering company.
    • jd2008jd  9 days ago
      And if those events were not taking place how many visitors do you think would be there on any given day. Keep in mind those people attending those events pay the cost of admission which helps keep that park open.
    • jd2008jd  9 days ago
      Both the person that provided the alcohol and the 17 year old are subject to legal penalities. Not just the one that provided the alcohol.
    • jd2008jd  9 days ago
      Actually, the FOFK did not violate Maine Law...it was the folks that brought the alcohol to the event. As you are for absolute enforcement of laws that would be the Maine National Guard. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
    • jd2008jd  9 days ago
      Yes they do all the time....
      Pulled over for speeding and you get a verbal warning rather than a ticket. That's called discretion.
      Written warning instead of a ticket. That's called discretion.
      It happens all the time...and yes I was a officer and practiced discretion ALL the time.
      By the way the persons subject to arrest and prosecution is not the FOFK...it would be the people that brought the alcohol to the event...The Maine National Guard.
      Addendum - By the way the persons subject to arrest and prosecution is not the FOFK...it would be the people that brought the alcohol to the event...The caterer in this case.

      If not for the revenue stream from Hollywood Casino the new arena would not have been built in the first place.
      The old Bangor Civic Center and Auditorium was supported by city money. I don't recall you complaining about that why?

      Yup and you're promoting one.
    • jd2008jd  11 days ago
      But your missing one very important point....
      If it weren't for the WFC series or the new Arena there would be no additional money in the local economy at all. Therefore there would be nothing to "pull out" as you say.
      You can say whatever you want but I believe the WFC series and new Arena will mean additional money in the local economy and that is good for both the businesses that take it in and the employees that work for them.
    • jd2008jd  11 days ago
      Well let me see if I can clarify my post some for you.
      Company X normally takes in $5,000.00 on a given Saturday. During a concert weekend that amount doubles to $10,000.00.
      That "extra" money may be used to "up staff" Company X to handle the increased customer volume. That is additional money in those employees that were requested to work on a day they would not normally.
      That "extra" money may be used to purchase additional provisions, items, etc...to replenish the extra items that were sold, used, etc... Those provisions, items, etc...may be purchased locally, regionally or nationally.
      That "extra" money may be used for future expansion of the business as demand increases for the items the sell, provide, etc...
      See what I'm saying?
    • jd2008jd  11 days ago
      So if I take in say $10,000 more than normal none of that money is spent locally?
      So where do those people eat, purchase fuel, shop, etc...while they are in Bangor?
      If I have to "up staff" that's not of benefit to the employees?
      Economics is not your strong suit I see.

      The protocol for dealing with someone on bath salts or agitated delirium is: reason with them and if that doesn't work employ a Taser and then sedate them using Lorazepam (Ativan).
      Unfortunately one of the side affects of bath salt use and excited delurium is cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac arrest and death.

    • jd2008jd  17 days ago
      Thank you for answering the question asked. You have zero first hand knowledge or experience in dealing with anyone under the influence of bath salts.
      The drug induced paranoia causes these folks to lash out and "fight" things that are not there. This puts the general public at risk and also the officers that need to deal with people under the influence of bath salts.
      The accepted protocol is Taser followed by several courses of Lorazepam (Ativan) which could require the response of multiple ambulances to have the necessary amount of
      Lorazepam (Ativan) on hand to maintain the patient in a sedated state.
    • jd2008jd  17 days ago
      Not in the least...but I have dealt with bath salts. Have you?
    • jd2008jd  17 days ago
      If he were armed the officers would have been justified in using "deadly" force, i.e. a firearm.
      A Taser is considered less than lethal force.
    • jd2008jd  17 days ago
      Have you ever dealt with anyone on bathsalts? They see things that are not there...they often feel they are being "attacked" when no one is...basically they experience a deep drug induced paranoia.

      Maybe you should go to a gun show here in Maine. I have been to one and purchased a firearm and completed the same paperwork as I would in a brick and mortar store. Just a suggestion to learn if we have a problem here in Maine.
      The problem I have is we don't enforce many if the laws we currently have on the books. So why have them? I had both a CCW and and Firearm ID when I lived in Massachusetts. They have a law that mandates a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 2 1/2 years if you are caught with a firearm without the proper licenses or permits. But they don't enforce it. So what is the Great and General Court (fancy name for the legislature) thinking about doing? Upping the penalty to a minimum of 2 years in prison. Well if they aren't enforcing the existing why increase the penalty? It's not a "deterrent" if they aren't enforcing what they have. Are they doing it to "feel good"? I have no idea other than it makes no sense.
      I also enjoy and learn from our debate and discussions. I just might show up at that meeting...and out of respect I would not carry open or concealed...not that I do much anyway.
    • jd2008jd  23 days ago
      I've said that I have no issue with extending background checks. But you said it perfectly...only those following the existing laws will follow the new law.
      I believe rather than focusing on law abiding citizens we should shine the light on the person committing the crimes in the first place.
      Why when faced with a criminal element do we focus on the citizen that follows the law?
    • jd2008jd  23 days ago
      And not one of the firearms purchased was from a FFL...not one. One wasn't even at the gun show but in the parking lot between two private individuals. How do control that? Answer you don't.
      6 "gun shows" across three states and the total take...one semiautomatic rifle and three semiautomatic. If they were trying to prove how "easy" it is I don't think they were very successful.
    • jd2008jd  23 days ago
      The first sentence of the last paragraph is telling "Experts believe that tightening controls on Europe's legally owned guns may be more important than curbing the flow of illegal weapons into Europe."
      Sure it's easier...it's always earlier to curb what a law abiding person does than a criminal.
      This is the edited version of what happened in England the other day. Aside from the brutality of the attack the thing I found most disturbing were the bystanders that did.....nothing with the exception of one woman that tried to help the 25-year-old machine gunner, drummer and father of a 2-year-old boy.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
      I don't know Momma...but I guess I prefer living in a country that doesn't keep on walking when they see a person run down and hacked to death or in a society where the authorities find it easier to control the law abiding citizen then going after the real problem....the criminals that beak the law.

If I remove the Camry body leaving just the frame change nothing mechanically and replace the body with a Lexus body has the performance of the car changed one bit? Or is it still a 4 cylinder Toyota with a fancy (cosmetic) upgrade?
      That is exactly the same thing as removing the barrel and receiver assembly from a wooden stock and placing it in a black polymer stock. You have the same barrel and receiver assembly which operates the same way but it looks different.
      What makes the firearm "look" different is cosmetic in nature. It's still a semiautomatic firearm the fires and cycles in the same manner as it did before.

      There was nothing made up about "dark and scary". It has been said on these pages and by both sides. I know two people that find the AR-15 cut outs on the gates to Maine Military Supply "dark and scary". MMS recently had "over 50 black guns in stock" on their road side sign.
      I would love someone to explain how taking a receiver and barrel assembly out of one stock and inserting it into another stock makes the firearm more lethal. No one wants to address it because it is an arbitrary definition.

      elimination of individual ownership of any firearms and provide a link to the text of the proposed bill.."
      As for a link here is one from this year that calls for the ban and/or registration of any and all "assault weapons" based on specific characteristics. The legislation has been introduced in at least two states, Minnesota and Missouri.
    • jd2008jd  24 days ago
      "Name one elected official who has proposed a bill calling for the total elimination of individual ownership of any firearms and provide a link to the text of the proposed bill.."
      Minnesota House of Representatives H.F. No. 241, as introduced - 88th Legislative Session (2013-2014) calls for the banning and/or registration of ANY firearm that meets certain physical characteristics.
      And here are nine elected officials who proposed the bill
      Representative Alice Hausman
      Representative Frank Hornstein
      Representative Erik Simonson
      Representative Jim Davnie
      Representative Linda Slocum
      Representative Rena Moran
      Representative Raymond Dehn
      Representative JoAnn Ward
      Representative Phyllis Kahn
      And before it is claimed "this in Minnesota....it's only one state" the exact same legislation (almost to the crossed "T"s and dotted "I"s) was introduced in Missouri.
      And when the law fails (if passed) to prevent another Newtown the water in the pot will be turned up and the frog dies just a bit more.
    • jd2008jd  24 days ago
      Minnesota House of Representatives H.F. No. 241, as introduced - 88th Legislative Session (2013-2014)https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin...
      It's like putting the frog in the pot of water and slowly increasing the temperature until the frog is dead. It doesn't know enough to get out of the water as it's slowly boiled to death.
      It starts with "well intentioned" and "common sense" proposals to "limit high-capacity magazines" and creating "assault weapon" classifications as shown in the above example.
      The original legislation list 17 specific firearms and is replaced with words like:
      "semi-automatic rifle"
      "capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:"
      "a pistol grip or thumbhole stock;"
      "any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the nontrigger hand;"
      "folding or telescoping stock"
      "shroud attached to the barrel"
      and similar language is used for pistols and shotguns.
      So when these laws fail to prevent another Newtown they heat will be turned up again and we move from magazines that hold 10 rounds becoming "too many" and we move to 7 rounds like New York just did. Then the balance of the semiautomatic firearms become "assault weapons" and well meaning elected representatives introduced "well intentioned" and "common sense" proposals to "limit high-capacity magazines" which are now anything greater than 7 rounds and adding additional semiautomatic firearms to the "assault weapon" classification.
      And when that doesn't stop another Newtown the water in the pot gets a bit hotter again until nothing is left. Of course that would be fine with many people...especially criminals.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      I truly do not care what you think I am trying to do....but no one seems to want to define the term "assault weapon". Why?

      And she has, was and is advocating for the elimination of any and all "assault weapons". Parse the words anyway you wish...the average listener/reader knows exactly what she meant.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Asked and answered twice...not going to address it again. Time for you to answer a question.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Sorry chenard but I did read your "query: it asks for one
      legislator who has "advocated the elimination of ANY (emphasis mine) private ownership of firearms.""
      Any -
      1) one or some indiscriminately of whatever kind,
      2) one, some, or all indiscriminately of whatever quantity,
      She has advocated for the elimination of private ownership of "assault weapons" which meets the definition of your query of "any".

      Could you define what an "assault rifle" is chenard?
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Well Ms. Cole....Senator Feinstein was and is advocating for is the banning of semiautomatic firearms like the Mini-14 which wouldn't be "banned" in a wooden stock configuration but remove the barrel and receiver from the wood stock and insert it into a polymer black stock and it's magically becomes a "assault weapon" subject to arbitrary regulation.
      How does a firearm become more dangerous because it is removed from a wood stock and placed in a polymer black stock when no modifications or changes are made to the receiver?
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Please see my response above.

      Trap....hardly. You asked the question and got the answer. She HAS advocated for the elimination of private ownership. I don't care if it was one "type" of a mythical "assault weapon" which you know doesn't exist in private ownership.

      Senator Dianne Feinstein: "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out-right ban, picking up every one of them... 'Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in,' I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren't here." CBS-TV's "60 Minutes",

    Police chiefs oppose bill that allows Mainers to carry concealed weapons without permit

    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Well I just finished reading your post and I see where your problem starts and that is with the mistaken belief that the United States is a "democracy".
      In a "democracy" everyone would get a vote and that's just not the case. We don't vote on each and every law. We don't even directly elect the President.
      We are a "Constitutional Republic". We elect people that represent us. If you don't like the way they represent us "we" get the chance to elect someone new every two years in the case of the House and every 6 years in the case of the Senate.
      Our Founding Fathers designed a government with three branches they intended to be equal in all respects. Unfortunately there have been times in our history where one branch of government attempted to exert more power or influence (this may be one of those periods) over the other branches.
      We don't elect the Justices of the SCOTUS and that is the way it was designed, is and should be. Otherwise we would extend the same problem we have on Capital Hill where money buys access and influence and I don't think that is what you want.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      I probably know and understand more about what one can and cannot do with a firearm than your average person.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      But he didn't did he. He did NOTHING wrong or illegal other than ruffle some people's feathers.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Because it is and will remain illegal for a felon to own, possess, carry, etc...a firearm. The laws does not change that fact.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Yes by all means lets use the "no fly list" as an example of something that works!!

      How many people in Maine are arrested each year for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit that are not arrested on another charge at the same time?
      How does Vermont do it EG?
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      "So why is "Opps, I did not know it was loaded" such a special and acceptable excuse ?"
      Special and acceptable? Not in my book. Before I clean any firearm it's cleared not once but twice.
      ~~~~~
      I cannot think of one state that does not have law on the books called "reckless conduct with a firearm" or some such statue. Many states also have laws about securing a firearm so a child should not be able to access it and discharge it. If those laws are not enforced you can blame the DA/AG and add them to the list of firearm laws that go unenforced in this country.
    • jd2008jd  25 days ago
      Hmmmmm...."wrong"....let me think about that.
      It would depend on which side of the case you are on. If you are on the side that the SCOTUS rules in favor of then no. If you are on the side that the SCOTUS rules against then yes.
      I suppose if you were Ernesto Miranda you were exceedingly happy when the SCOTUS ruled in your favor and established "The Miranda Warning" in 1966. I doubt Arizona was pleased with the decision. Oh, Miranda v. Arizona (1966) was also a 5-4 ruling.
      Happy reading Mitt
      District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) Decision:
      (1) The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.
      (a) The Amendment’s prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate that it connotes an
      individual right to keep and bear arms.
      (b) The prefatory clause comports with the Court’s interpretation of the operative clause. The “militia” comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. The Antifederalists
      feared that the Federal Government would disarm the people in order to disable this citizens’ militia, enabling a politicized standing army or a select militia to rule. The response was to deny Congress power to abridge the ancient right of individuals to keep and bear arms, so that
      the ideal of a citizens’ militia would be preserved.
      (c) The Court’s interpretation is confirmed by analogous
      arms-bearing rights in state constitutions that preceded and immediately followed the Second Amendment.
      (d) The Second Amendment’s drafting history, while of dubious interpretive worth, reveals three state Second Amendment proposals that unequivocally referred to an individual right to bear arms.
      (e) Interpretation of the Second Amendment by scholars, courts and legislators, from immediately after its ratification through the late 19th century also supports the Court’s conclusion.
      (f) None of the Court’s precedents forecloses the Court’s interpretation. Neither United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U. S. 542 , nor Presser v. Illinois, 116 U.S. 252 , refutes the individual-rights interpretation. United States v. Miller,
      307 U.S. 174 , does not limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes.
      So when would you remove that right Michael?
      When a person feels depressed?
      When they start taking prescription psychotropic medication? Please keep in mind that some psychotropic medications (i.e. Bupropion (Wellbutrin)) are used to treat other conditions.
      When a person is diagnosed with depression, etc...?
      When a person voluntarily commits themselves for treatment?
      When?
      "...and yet MOST law enforcement support gun control" is a flat our lie.
      The rank and file street officer does NOT support gun control.
      The Atlanta Journal-Constitution 4/10/2013
      "Police officers: Obama's gun-control proposals would make things worse"
      ""Contrary to what the mainstream media and certain politicians would have us believe, police overwhelmingly favor an armed citizenry, would like to see more guns in the hands of responsible people, and are skeptical of any greater restrictions placed on gun purchase, ownership,
      or accessibility."
      That's the conclusion of Doug Wylie, editor of PoliceOne.com, in his write-up of a national survey of more than 15,000 law-enforcement officers about possible new restrictions on gun owners. Those would be the kind of new restrictions President Obama and Vice President Biden continue to campaign for."
      ~~~~
      PoliceOne.com
      "PoliceOne's Gun Control Survey: 11 key lessons from officers' perspectives"
      1.) Virtually all respondents (95 percent) say that a
      federal ban on manufacture and sale of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds would not reduce violent crime.
      2.) The majority of respondents — 71 percent — say a
      federal ban on the manufacture and sale of some semi-automatics would have no effect on reducing violent crime. However, more than 20 percent say any ban would actually have a negative effect on reducing violent
      crime. Just over 7 percent took the opposite stance, saying they believe a ban would have a moderate to significant effect.
      3.) About 85 percent of officers say the passage of the
      White House’s currently proposed legislation would have a zero or negative effect on their safety, with just over 10 percent saying it would have a moderate or significantly positive effect.
      and on and on it goes pretty....These are real police officers telling us what they think and what your putting out there is NOTHING BUT A LIE.

      Do we remove a right when a person feels depressed?
      Do we remove a right when a person is given a prescription medication? Keep in mind some prescription medication like Bupropion (Wellbutrin) are used to treat depression AND as smoking cessation medication. Some medications are used "off label" by a provider to treat other non FDA approved disease states. One depression medication is also used as sleep aid.
      Do we remove the right when a person voluntarily commits themselves?
      Or do we remove the right when a person expresses suicidal ideations?
