You posted a comment in Portland is jewel in Maine’s crown, not ‘kook’ capital · 2 years ago Nicely put. Maine is a lovely state, and as Ehow says "Portland, Maine, is an anomaly-an urban destination in one of America's most outdoorsy states. That doesn't prevent it from being a memorable weekend hiatus, however, with superb old homes, an enticing port area and some of the East Coast's best seafood."

"The oil from the Exxon Valdez killed or injured many marine organisms in these ways, but no one knows exactly how many died as a direct or indirect result of the spill. Scientists do know that the carcasses of more than 35,000 birds and 1,000 sea otters were found after the spill. These numbers do not include the carcasses that quickly sank into deep waters following the spill, which are thought to be the majority." - http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/e...

Margaret Cheney's book "Tesla: Man Out of Time" says Thomas Edison's Edison Electric Company was taken over by J.P. Morgan's House of Morgan to form the company now known as GE and that Tesla's AC induction motor was purchased by George Westinghouse whose Westinghouse Electric Company survives to this day because he convinced Tesla to give up the rights to Tesla's royalties, which caused Tesla not to be able to fund some of his later ideas.
I incorrectly stated that Tesla's motor had produced DC current. It was Edison whose motors produced DC current and he electrocuted dogs to show the public how dangerous our AC current is.

"Todd Beamer placed a call on one of the Boeing 757's on-board telephones and spoke for 13 minutes with GTE operator Lisa D. Jefferson, Beamer's wife said. He provided detailed information about the hijacking and -- after the operator told him about the morning's World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks -- said he and others on the plane were planning to act against the terrorists aboard, Lisa Beamer said.Read more: http://www.wtae.com/news/96201..."
